How do you know when your clutch is failing?
I have a 91 integ with a 10 year old stock clutch. Occasionally, It'll grind on 2nd gear even when I press the clutch pedal all the way down. Is that from a failing clutch? What are the signs when your clutch gives? Thanks.

Just on regular driving. Like from a stop sign I'll exellerate normal.

I know nothing about clutches. So does that mean the tranny fluid is bad? I changed out the fluid last year with penziol stuff.

if your grinding then your tranny synchros are going bad. so its either replace or repair from this point.

You'll know your clutch is going bad when it starts to slip. It will usually be gradual and you'll definitely notice that the rpms are going up faster than the car is accelerating. It is kind of like when it is wet out and you floor it - rpms go up but the car doesn't really go anywhere. Sometimes they just break and you can't engage a gear at all.

When you say "when it starts to slip", does that mean that grinding sound?

When your clutch "slips" it's basically like your trying to accelerate, but the car can't keep up with the engine because the clutch is worn. You will notice the RPM's going up but if you look at the speedo, it stays somewhat stationary. It sounds like it's your synchros though, good luck.
