Default Would it be ok to Purple Power a block?

Man recently I've bought a used f22b2 pulled the head pulled the oil pan gunk everywhere... the valves are burned up.. it looks like somebody took
a shiznit in the motor and let it run that way..I want to clean it out plan on dropping the crankshaft and purple power the hell out of it..
I'm not sure on how the head is
but I know that the block is good so you might be seeing me sometime in the near future working on a G23

general purpose cleaner www .purplepower .com
works great on rims.. use 50/50 water though
because it does have ammonia..

I'm not sure... I'd be more inclined to find a cleaner that is more suited for that type of job.

You could look into getting it hot tanked, that would get it clean. Not sure the cost on getting that done though.

best thing would be to use varsol. However, you can use pretty much any type of cleaner, just as long as you make sure that 100% of it comes back out. The last thing you want is that stuff to stay in a coolant passage and corrode the block.

Like Touring Accord said, its probably a better idea to take it to a machine shop and have it hot tanked. 1) It will look like brand new inside and out. 2) You know its safe for the block 3) its a bastard of a job to do at home, and you cant get into everywhere without a hot tank.

most machine shops (assuming the engine is out of the car) can ho tank your block for like under $50

i dont think anyone around here has a hot tank
ive got 50 dollars in the block plan on doing a cheap rebuild.
and btw i've been thinking about taking it to car wash rinse the block
high pressure soap it and it should be pretty clean.. but i've got
to borrow a torque wrench from a friend to remove the bolts
done broke 2 rachets and 3 sockets

Inside? I'd use a degreaser like Engine Brite or a petroleum based thing.

Outside use whatever

not sure what bolts you are referring to but you should never use a torque wrench to loosen bolts. If you broke a ratchet you should go to a break bar, not a torque wrench.

any guy that does engine work should have a hot tank and that is the way to go without a doubt.

cheap now = expensive later when it comes to rebuilds

i did this ^ . degreased my head, soaked it in a tub of hot water. after all the "gunk" you are referring to rose to the surface i pulled the head and degreased it again, full pressure wash, blow dry with an air hose.

as for the block, degreased and pressure washed. then i scuffed it with a scotch pad and sprayed 2 coats of silver and 1 coat of clear.

1 coat of silver and 1 coat of clear for the head and intake manifold as well.

good luck with your backyard build
