How hard to put oem sunroof in 94 civic DX?
Alright... Heres the situation. I have a 94 Civic Hatch. There is a guy on craigslist selling the sunroof assembly from a 95 Civic Ex. How hard would it be to put that in my hatch? Is it something that would be worth the trouble?
sounds hard and leaky. then you'd have to find the roof liner and figure a way to route the wirings and get the oem switches. i wish i had a sunroof though...

You'll need a whole new roof skin to put a stock moonroof into your Civic. The moonroof doesn't just fit in a hole that's cut into a normal roof. The roof skin with a moonroof and the roof skin without a moonroof are totally different parts.
The roof skin of a car with a stock moonroof has a rolled edge around the hole in the roof. The metal of the roof folds in smoothly into the hole.
So you'll need a replacement roof skin along with the entire moonroof assembly. The roof skin will have to be long enough (or need to be modified) to fit on your hatch, so I'd suggest a hatch roof skin that comes stock with a moonroof. The coupe and sedan roofs are probably too short.
Then you will need to remove the gutter trim from the sides of the roof, drop the headliner and remove the nearby roof panels and cut the entire roof out. I'd recommend you cover all cloth when you do this so you (1) don't catch anything on fire and (2) don't embed metal shards in the carpet and seats forever. Cut the whole roof skin out and bring in the replacement. Weld the new on in.
Then you can re-install the gutters and then install the moonroof assembly. Then put in the headliner and any removed interior parts.
