h22 or h23???
hey i jus bought a 96' prelude Si its got quite a few miles on it so i was thinkin i would run the engine out untill i can afford a new one because with my job right now ill be putting a lot more on it. Now my question is if i should keep with the h23 or upgrade to a h22. I do eventually plan to put forced induction in it whether it be a supercharger (which i think would be pretty tight) or turbo. Jus wondering which engine would be best for something like that. Oh and if a h22 is my best bet if i need a complete engine swap or if some of my parts will fit. thanks
Most people would prefer an h22 because of the added performance and flexibility of vtec. Most parts are interchangeable between the motors. You will need and ecu and the vtec transmission also has slightly shorter gears, many of companies that sell the swaps will also let you pay a couple hundred extra to get one of the LSD trannies which is also a pretty good option. Forced induction of these motors takes some work to get a strong reliable setup. The sleeves are made of FRM which does not accept forged pistons so for high power FI setups sleeving is a must. Check out the FAQ and you'll find most of your swap and forced induction questions answered there
yeah im kinda thinkin about keepin the h23 because that way i wouldnt need a complete swap or anything jus the block and stuff. I figure it will save me money for other mods. I wouldnt mind the vtec tho, thats why i mentioned it. I hear the h23 is a stronger engine?? is that true?
