i was changing the head gasket and when i pulled the head off the cylenders had like u shaped marks on them in this normal the engine has 80000 miles on it and when u change the head gasket should you change the whole headgasket set or just the headgasket

 

If you are replacing the headgasket you might as well change the valve cover gaskets since you have to remove the VC etc. I think the OEM gasket set for the VC is like $17

sorry cant take pics no camera right now they are u shaped ingraved in the top of the cylernders like the valves are hitting them but the engine runs great sounds good too so idk i never opened up an engine before so im not sure if that is bad sorry 4 the spelling

 

You mean like the 2 U-shaped things in this piston?

 

yeah just like that i didn't know what that was never saw a piston before so its all good i guess thanks a lot i was getting woried it was something bad thanks again

 

Yeah, those are valve reliefs. They should be there.
