Default suspension help

I'm helping a friend out with there car and just wanted to get someone else's opinion, so heres the issue:

She hit a pot hole and than a curb a few weeks back. After that the front end started poping when she made a hard turn left and than again when she turns it back right. Well I got the car yesterday got it in the air and both front shocks were blown. I replaced both struts, and re-assembled everything. With the car in the air I turned the wheel and no noise. So I lower the car and go to back it out and turn the wheel to get out of my drive way and it pops. So I drive down the street and its doing it as she stated.

So I go back and get it back in the air and turn the wheel and its doing it. So I look at it and it looks like the spring is jumping. When you turn it the spring looks like its getting jammed up when turning. So I thought oddly it could be the spring so I disassemble the driver side and swap springs. Rotated teh wheel while it was in the air and no pop. I was pumped, so I assembled the driver side with teh other spring(original popping one) and lower the car. Rotate the wheels and it starts popping.

So now I know its not the strut, spring, top hat, etc. The tie rod end looks fine but I might go ahead and replace that. I was also thinking it could be the axle binding somehow, so might replace that.

If anyone could just maybe give me something else I could look at/for it would be greatly appreciated.

Check the compliance bushings:

Also, when disassembling/reassembling the McPherson's, did you index the springs properly?

PS. Both of these are common issues, with fairly solid information available in the FAQ's.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I looked at those bushings too and looks like the front one is ripped. I guess I'll replace them and see if that fixes it. I hope so.....

Would the alignment being way out cause an issue like this?

Yes, it very well could. Being extremely out of alignment also causes premature wear on joints.

yeah I know that much but just curious on what else it could be. Well I'm going to replace the lower bushings and than get an alignment and go from there. I appreciate all the help. I had a feeling from teh get go it was those bushings.. So glad they are cheap.
