Default need help identifying this part please read!!

alright so i kept hearing this weird noise when going over bumps a certain way so i took off my wheel to figure out what it was and this is what i found

http://img265.imageshack.us/im...7.jpg

the arrow is where the part is supposed to connect to and the circled part is obviously the part that i need to find out what it is. all your help is appreciated.

oh and would this part when broken cause my car to make a clunking noise when i go over a bump or when im taking a turn??

thanks everyone!

oh and as far as the rust goes i know i hate how much there is. i blame it on the person who supposedly was the only other owner of the car. i wash mine every week so its not from me lol

Yes, your sway bar will cause a clunking noise. Get new endlinks, and a new suspension for rusts sake
