Default Help! My car won't go into reverse???

So as i got to work. I went to back into my spot to park, and noticed that i can't get into reverse. So i was thinking i might be low on tranny fluid.
I changed my tranny fluid and it still won't go into reverse. All my other gears are fine. No grinding or anything.
Can someone help me out diagnose the problem?

For emergency situation try to drive forward in 1st gear for about a foot then go straight to reverse quick.... that worked on my old tranny couple years back. I had no choice since I did not have the funds to buy another tranny or have mine fixed for about a month.

When the car is off try going through all the gears (including reverse). If you can't go into reverse you have a problem. If you can get into reverse, set it in reverse and start the car. Back up for a bit then stop, go into first and move forward then stop. Now go back into reverse.

Most likely bent fork, or 5th-reverse syncro.

I had an identical problem, turned out to be the 5th/Reverse Synco Sleeve.

have you ever had a grind in 5th? like maybe going from 2nd to 5th too soon, at too high an RPM?
i did that once. it put just enough of a "lip" on the teeth of my slider that the car was hard to get into 5th. it wasn't impossible.. just took a bit of effort. it got easier as the burr wore off.
also, did you pull forward then try reverse? just enough to move the internals.
have you tried going into first, then reverse?
if you have not done any grinding, i'd say the fork is bent too. unless something came loose inside.
.. but it's not that easy to bend a fork. you would know if you did anything to make that happen.

Not unless you take your transmission out, apart, and inspect it. Not much more diagnostics you can do.

Also known as the synrco sleeve, which I posted below.

that would be correct. just confirming the possibility 'cause it happened to me too.

Gotcha. I was just specifying for the non tranny experts to think that you and me were reffering to two different things.

LOL @ your screen name. i feel ya on that. it sounds like grinding NOW isn'this problem. it just won't go into gear. i was asking if he's had a problem with grinding before this happened.
as stated: we will never know 'till the tranny is opened, which needs to be done regardless in order to fix the problem.
