Default H23A to F20B

I posted a topic not too long ago about switching a h23a to a f22b but now i need to know how much dir=fferent a f20b is from the h23a. I was told the only difference is the distributor??? Any feedback would be nice.

Shorter stroke, cast iron sleeves, slightly less torque.

You'll notice a pretty big difference. Going from the torqiest (regarding the curve) H/F to the one with the least.

Be sure to get the F20B tranny though. It has the highest redline of all FWD H/F engines and so therefore, has the shortest gears, plus an LSD.

I don't think that's the case but whatever.

I'd take a $700 F22B DOHC nonVTEC with 11.5:1 CR and a cam over an F20B VTEC any day. Wheezy torqueless revvy motors work fine in motocycles but with heavy cars there's much to be said for that midrange torque. My 2¢.

Considering the $ people put into boring out their engines 2mm and stroking out their engines 4-6mm buying an engine with 2mm less bore and 3mm less stroke than a regular H22 seems a little questionable. Plus you might end up with the 180ps version.

The F20B is still a pretty similar engine to the H-series, just without the FRM liners.

People seem to be enamored by high-revving tiny engines for some reason. In racing, the H22 was used as Honda's prime choice for a 4cyl application. And that exact geometry is obviously outstanding if they used it again 12 years later in the current flagship 4cyl (F22c).

The only reason the F20b was created was for homogenization for a series that capped displacement at 2L; hence making a smaller H22. It is NOT the ideal engine.
