Hello everybody,
I have a Honda Civic EX Coupe 2003 and last night i went to my mechanic to get a transmission flush. He hooked his machine up to the car and flushed out the old fluid and refilled it with the new one (generic) and then added a additive called Lube Guard.
The car has 84,480 miles on it now and previously i had only drained and refilled the transmission with HONDA Genuine ATF-Z1.
After the flush last night with the generic fluid and lube guard additive i feel that the shifting is a bit harder. I am very dissapointed with this and i dont know what to do now.
Should i take it back to him and let him drain out all the fluid and then refill it manually with the HONDA Genuine ATF-Z1? Will that be good enough to get my old transmission smoothness back?

yeah....but youre kinda at fault too bud (should always use HONDA Genuine ATF-Z1) ....either way, just stop by at honda and buy some of the fluid you do need....take it back to the dude who used the cheap **** and have him replace it....

 

You should never ever flush a transmission, as it'll send metal particulates back into the transmission housing instead of keeping them on the bottom where they belong.

I'd have him drain whatever he added and add in Honda ATF. I wouldn't use anything outside of Honda ATF for their transmissions as they seem to be particularly picky.

 

I had the generic oil drained out and refilled it with ATF-Z1.
And i still have the same problem.
What should i do?
Is it may be the timing belt needs to be replaced (84500 miles)?
Do i need to get the flush done from honda?

 

did you just do a drain and fill once? if so i recommend you do 2 or 3 more drain and refills to flush out all the generic fluid trans holds about 7 to 9 quarts. one drain and refill only removes 2 1/2 quarts. honda are very sensitive to other trans fluid other than the atf-z1.

always use ATF-Z1 honda trans fluid in a honda or acura vehicle to keep that smooth shifting.
