Default How long will my Civic last?

I have an '02 Civic Lx with 85k miles on it. I change my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles. I drive with no sudden acceleration or stops, and a lot of freeway miles.

Has anyone heard any estimates on how long these cars typically go? I kind of want to wait for a more attractive Prius (or other hybrid) to come out. Also, it feels great not having car payments, and want to see how long I can make this go. Thanks.

If you take care of it like you say you are it will last you for a long time 200,000+ miles easy.

baah fyi, ive been tracking how much gas mileage i do per tank for the past 3 - 4 full tanks; i get about 30mpg highway + country mainly. Why do I tell u this? Because at 95058 miles I pass up cars on the country roads and speed close to 80mph on the highways....NOTHING has gone wrong!! And I only lose a very VERy few mpgs. This is fro m my personal experience of downshifting to pass cars and cruising at 80mph. just fyi I share this piece of info Honda's take the beating hehehe

My car has like 140k, and it's good. Just make sure to regularly maintain your car and you'll be good. Hondas last a long while.

it'll last VERY long time. my bro's 92 accord has 191k miles. still running excellent (just a lil rusty). even runs well below zero. just keep up the maintenance.

^^^ Yep, look after it and it will be just fine.

BTW, is your user-name supposed to be "teg you're it"? As in "tag, you're it!"?

minor maintenance/tune ups are good, but also perform the extensive maintenance...

run a compression test, leakage test, vacuum test and youll more or less know where you stand...

Thanks guys. My only worry with comprehensive checks is that they usually find something that "really needs to be fixed". I would really have no idea if they are trying to make a buck, or if that thing will break down my car much faster if not fixed. Looks like it's time I find a mechanic I can trust...

I definitely have noticed how long Accords run. I think the Civic might be a little less insane with the longevity, though.

You should be able to run da car till da wheels fall off LOL! Honda engines are very reliable given that you take care of the necessary scheduled maintenance...

stop by http://www.alldata.com....

do some research on your motor...it has EVERY peice of information you can imagine...

know what the numbers are supposed to be for comp./leak/vacuum tests...

then ask the mechanic if he's willing to show you the readings...

Man just a suggestion ok so here it goes, why not just buy the K powerplant found in the ep3's or dc5's if it's power you want I would personally keep the Civic and swap the engine and keep it a sleeper... You don't know how much fun I have when another guy wants to race and when I let it rip on them their jaws just drop to the floor but like I said it's just a suggestion.
