Default Transmission Leaking?

I just got underneath my 95 Accord and theres a leak under the transmission, I do not think its leak ATF coz. the color is brownish like oil any idea where might this be coming from?

The oil pan is on the opposite side so I do not think thats the culprit. Is it possible for the transmission to leak oil or is it inside the transmission like seals or crankshaft seal or something?

Thanks in advance.

It might be the rear main, or something up top is seeping down. If your ATF is old and dirty it might look like engine oil.

Really old tranny fluid can look black.

Ask me how I know.

It also is the foulest smelling substance ever.

i have a five speed tranny, and i noticed a leak between the tranny and the oil pan, and my guess it's the rear main seal anywy mine is a slow leak hope you have the same issue as i do.

not usually, but you figure after so many miles on your car seals wear out, rear main seal included. Replacing the rear main seal is a BITCH tranny needs to be removed, in my opinion if it's not dripping the quart leave it be. GL

If the leaked oil is on the side close to oil pan, that should be oil pan gasket leak. If the leaked oil is on the side close to wheel, check if the oil come from top. Most likely it is distributor o-ring leak. These were what happened to my car.
