who here is running catless?
so yea who is? i just ask because im getting my custom exhaust fully fine tuned tomorrow its on the car right now with a resonator (which the dude put in backwards!!) and a older stock cat with a n1 style muffler 2.5 inch but it just needs to be bent better and fixed in some areas. I was thinking about takin off the stock cat and just weldin in a test pipe. do you think it will make the car alot louder? i am going to fix the resonator tomorrow so im sure that will help quiet it down. it sounds very very good right now nice low throaty tone but i wanted to see what people think about no cat, im going to turbo soon so i figure that will help free up some HP.

I wouldn't really call it a volume change as I would a pitch change - though it is louder
- though like I said, more of a pitch change.
I ran my probe with a test pipe for awhile - it was louder, noticeably, but the pitch was the thing that really made you go "wtf" - gives it a double edged sound opposed to the sharp single pitch that an N1 outta give.
Not the best sound ever, IMO.

i am catless with an n1 and a single resonator, sounds nice with my h22 but pretty loud, with my d-series it was hell i hated driving it when i was sleepy bc it was so damn loud and raspy
if your going turbo soon screw it and just run open dp

This is the exhaust setup on my car when I bought it. It is a B18b1 with **** piping and a some type of muffler on the back (dont know what kind it just says RS on it) no cat, no resonator. I think it might be stock size piping then too. It is loud too, It is ridiculous actually. Sorry for no view of car, it was in storage with no lights.

ya, it's still stupid..
the minimal gains really aren't worth it...you don't drive a race car

I'm running a catless exhaust, the only thing I don't like is the buzzy ricer noise it makes around 3k RPM.
DC 4-1 header to K-teller piping with the biggest Magnaflow resonator that would fit under the car and a Magnaflow muffler.

yeah, you're right it's so damn hard to take a nap while you're driving when your exhaust keeps waking you up
haha
I support global warming.
Race car= turbo back, no cat....obnoxious as hell even with turbo.
Daily= stock header/cat (manifold mount cat on the d16y7) with megan drift spec cat-back...loud enough for a DD but not obnoxious.
keep the cat...atleast til you go turbo and you actually will benefit from removing it, until then it's just going to be shitty, annoying, and you will actually lose power from removing it.

b16 with test pipe full rsr ex mag. perfect. cat w/ the rsr ex mag was dead silent. with the test pipe it gave it a lil sound that is perfect.
so i guess no cat= louder.
no cat + n1 style= loud as ****

I ran my gsr swapped ek with a greddy evo catback for a few months without a cat. It was very loud at wot and I wouldn't recommend it. I got a ticket and I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get the ticket written off. Funny thing is I didn't even want to run catless but I couldnt find a gsr cat around the time I swapped my motor so I just welded in a pipe. Anyways it sounds nice and I get alot of compliments on my greddy evo with the cat installed.
