VTEC Swap and Turbo: Question about Compression Ratio
OKAY ...I HAVE A SMALL PROBLEM. I HAVE A DC2 INTEGRA AND IT HAS AN LS MOTOR. I WANTED TO SWAP A TYPE R ENGINE INTO THE BAY, BUT I WANTED TO TURBO THE TYPE R...IS THE COMPRESSION TOO HIGHT TO TURBO THE TYPE R?...IF IT IS THEN I WANT TO GO WITH THE GS-R ENGINE AND TURBO THAT BUT THE COMPRESSION ISNT THAT MUCH LOWER. IS IT WORTH IT TO SWAP THE LS FOR THE GS-R IF I TURBO IT AND NEW INTERNALS?....OR SHOULD I JUST GO WITH A B16A2 AND TURBO THAT?.........HELP HELP HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
I think you should search...
all of the motors u listed are great turbo engines. The type-r is USUALLY used as an N/A motor (due to higher compression), but it handles boost very well. I dont see u having problems with any of those motors personally.. i'd just go with the healthiest/strongest motor u can find

Now thats just amazing, we had the same idea in the same minute
lol

heres the thing...the LS would be okay to boost if i poured money into the internals and a turbo, but it only has about 142hp stock. the b16 is a more powerful engine stock so i would be gaining more power in the end after internals and a turbokit. i just think a type r is a waste of money because its $5k just for the engine and another couple thousand for internals and another few thousand for a turbo kit.... the b16 is fairly cheap as is the gs-r and i wouldnt have to totally swap the internals only mild things. pistons rods injectors...and then turbo. i think that'll handle a turbo kit better then a stock type r. and its easy to add internals to a stock type r plus a turbo if i was a millionaire but lets face it here....im looking for the most power i can get without spending a shitload of money.

build your ls bottom end with pistons and rods, and then get a vtec head (b16 or gsr head, your choice). You dont need another block if you have one already thats pretty decent. Then turbo that bitch.
what will that do though?....how much horsepower will i have after that?.....i dont think alot
first questions you should ask yourself, is how much do YOU want? what are you shooting for?
i want at least 300hp...anywhere from 300hp-400hp...........then ill be happy...thats what i want
yea its gonna be my daily driver....it doesnt matter. its gonna get mobil one and premium gas the least......im fine with that...i think if i go with a b16a2 and je pistons and connecting rods, an adjustable cam gear set, valves, springs, retainers, sleeve the block, pulley kit,etc...some other stuff.....im sure it can handle a good turbo kit and bring me up to 300hp.ill be suped with that and ill take pretty much anything on the road thats a daily driver. plus a nice 2step wouldnt hurt for my launch....thanks people

every motor stated will EASILY handle 300, bone stock with a turbo, and a good tune
if you want more piston and rods for an ls are decently cheap

actually the bottom end could handle over 200 hp with or without boost. the ls bottom ends are pretty tough, and can handle a fair amount of beating. just don't try to shift at the redline every gear. get a good tune, and shift when it stops making power. if by some chance it would blow, then i would recommend a rebuild. besides vtec and boost can sometimes be tricky sometimes.

you can get 300 wheel easy on your stock block ls. Now if you want more than that and be reliable you should get better pistons, and rods. Also you may want to upgrade your ls head to a vtec head. That would be the way i would go. No reason to get a whole other motor when you have a decent block to work with already....

you probably shouldn't try to throw your turbo theories around here where ppl actually have experience in the situation
boost the LS and call it a day
