refinishing wheel clearcoat
What I want to know is what is the proper way to prep a wheel for clearcoat. Say you have an aluminum wheel like a GSR blade and want to make it all smooth and even.
You start out with a wheel that is less than perfect, peeling clearcoat/scuffs etc. How do you proceed? I would think that sanding too much would show beneath the clearcoat because sanding aluminum tends to scratch it up. Is there anything you should coat the wheel with before painting on the clear?

I havent picked them up yet but from the pictures it looks like a lot of flaking clearcoat...
So I'm wanting to get an idea of what I would need to do before buying these. I've painted over basecoat many a time but this seems like it would be different.

never a good idea to leave in clearcoat of the old job, esp when you know some area of the same layer been flaking(assuming not by external force)
have it sand blasted and reclear, they will come out very nice
