CEL code 22 comes on.... (VTEC pressure switch)
Code 22 is for VTEC pressure switch.
When I do top speed runs, the CEL always comes on, for code 22. I've already checked my VAFC wiring, and have replaced the VTEC pressure switch and solenoid. What could be the problem? It only goes on when I'm in VTEC for a little while, in the higher gears. If I shut the car off and turn it right back on, the CEL goes away, but sometimes it comes back if I stay in the higher RPMs. My VTEC is set at 6500rpms, and the stock engagement point on my ECU is 5800rpms. Might there be a correction percentage factor I have to put into the VAFC or something to make the CEL not come on (if that's the problem)?
Help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Happened to me as well before my motor srapped out on me. Never could figure it out. Maybe Steve is right because we checked everything else besides the v-AFC.
VAFC
Field SFC-VTEC
Every one I have ever installed has had -0- problems. Every VAFC i have ever
seen or installed has caused problems. I have said this many times before.
terry, if you want a temp fix, at the ecu short the VTM wire to ground.

I've heard from a few people of the Field's unit frying ecu's. I've never had a problem with a VAFC.
second hand information anyway. moot

So grounding the VTM wire on the ECU side will take care of this problem for now?
By the way, I'm looking into Hondata. Trying to raise the funds right now...

OK, I'm finally going to short the VTM wire to ground on the ECU side, but do I just leave the VAFC's VTM hookup wire just chillin there? It doesn't have to be tapped to anything?

What exactly is the VTM wire, and what does it do? On the VAFC manual, it says to connect the blue wire to the ECU end, and leave the sensor end chillin. What happens if I leave the stock wire connected, with the VAFC's blue wire hanging?
VTM = vtec oil pressure switch
if you dont connect that and you set vtec below stock then the car will go into
limp mode. Connect it as the instructions say

Evil, What do you mean you connected both VTM wires to the ECU?
There's only one wire for VTM (according to the VAFC manual), and it's the blue one.
sgT, are you sure the VTM wire is for VTEC pressure switch, because the VAFC manual says that the VTEC pressure signal is connected to the VAFC's white and yellow wires. Are there 2 different VTEC pressure signal wires?

Where can I find the VTM switch. I have just got this code with a stock setup except for AEM CAI.
Check your oil level first.

In my situation the code 22 starting happening after we put my Spec B's in. It would only happen in 4th or 5th gear abouve 8000 rpm or if I was in vtec for prolonged periods of time (Even if it was 6000-7000 rpm). We checked everything believe me, oil, compression, vtec solenoid, we were starting to think it might be the ECU (Rechipped P28) but never thought that it could be the V-AFC. I have another friend who has this problem and I may possibly have it after (whenvver) my car is running again so any insight on how to correct or possible other things to check on this problem would be greatly appreciated

Yup. Never started having a problem until I put my Toda Spec B's. Then a week later started getting that code when I was in 4th gear @ high RPM or 5th @ high RPM.
Hardwire the VTM directly to the ECU. If the CEL doesn't come on when you run it that way, you have eliminated the actual pressure switch (which sounds like it isn't anyways, but just to re-ensure the fact). Sounds to me like the V-AFC causes some sort of short in prolonged high-rpm VTEC?
