So my Si cluster was jacked. Not liking the prices of Si clusters on evil bay, I was thinking of getting an EX cluster, changing the bulb condoms, etc to amber, and putting on NR Auto white faces on instead and maybe painting the needles orange/red.
My question is would the tach read right? IOW, it appears that the numbers are at different spots on the EX tach versus where it would be on the Si. My understanding was that all Civics are the same physical dimensions and wired the same wrt cluster... is there a bigger resistor on the Si tach gauge or something?

Excellent. How will it know the right numbers on the different gauge face, though? IOW, it must be the relative spacing between the numbers that's different, rather than absolute positioning of all numbers? That would make sense.
It was appearing to me that 7000 on an Si tach went "farther" than 7k on an EX. Great. I'm only going off pictures and such at this point I'm sure if do an A/B I would see the numbers are actually at the same spot just different sizes or something.
Thanks!

If you plan to put Si gauge faces on an EX cluster, the numbers will be off. If you leave the EX cluster stock, the tach and speedo will be just as accurate as an Si cluster.

Ah snap! That's what I was afraid of. Any way to mod it to make it correct?
I just priced new gauges at a stealership... tach is 90, speedo 175, and fuel/temp ~50 bucks and I can get that down a bit on family/hookup pricing. If I put them in the EX cluster surround would that work and read correct?

Excuse me, I did not intend to mislead you. BlueIntegraBoy is correct, all I meant to say is that it will work in your car.
