AEM CAI W/ Bypass Valve
Well I'm a bit of a noob you might say. I have a 2002 Accord V6 Coupe and I just ordered my Greddy Dual Exhaust and AEM CAI W/ Bypass Valve. I got them got some Q's for the CAI. The model is 21-416C I couldn't find an answer looking online. This is a long ram CAI correct? And as for putting the valve on it does it require cutting due to the fact it's a one peice pipe? Thanks.
I havn't installed it yet and as far as I can see it doesn't go to the bumper.
Here's the AEM link:

And picture of it with more info.

it's says it right in that link, it's the CAI (Cold Air Induction/Intake).
And yes, a CAI will pass down through a hole into the area where the stock intake resonator is at which is behind the bumper and fender liner.

wait, I just saw you have a V6, sorry I didn't catch that before. I'm not exactly sure how those sit in the engine bay, I was thinking I4. Sorry about that.
I would do some searching for pictures of V6's with intakes and see how they are routed.

i think this is the one he's getting(well guessing) http://www.evasivemotorsports....de=EM
the bypass will replace the rubber connector thats in the middle of the intake.

Don't bother to install the bypass valve.
Just sell it for cash.

Doubt it.
If it's just a normal CAI, which I think it is, then he will have to cut the intake pipe, and install the bypass valve that way. The piping itself will come as one complete piece.

well we'll see when he gets it. i really think he should buy the intake first to see which one he's really got. plus the bypass peice really to me depends on where you live and drive. does he live in a area that rains alot that cause him to drive through some flooded area? but it's really up to him to buy or not.
That's a V2 version. I got the regular CAI. And I have both the intake and bypass valve next to me. And as for getting the vavle installed...I have to...Just last week It rained and basically flooded the streets so I don't want to take a chance with hydro-lock.
I have a 98 accord v6 i installed mine like in july...it will sit near the fender liner is...make sure u have a splash shield so when it rains it doesnt get wet or anything..my friends dad installed it by screwin it into the frame of the car so mines is pretty solid and also i added a breather on it.........
i'm not certain about this but i guess what you could do is when you install the bypass, connect to where the intake connects to the throtle body. that way you dont have to cut anything.
hmm...I didnt know if I got a bypass valve I would need a shield still....hummm well I havn't installed mine yet which is why I posted this to get some info on how to go about it. I know how to install the intake...it's easy to do...but the bypass valve is another thing I want to install since there's lots of floods here and I don't want to take a chance on not putting it on. I took some pictures but since I think I'm on "trial" I wont be able to post it.
yeah a shield helps alot, you dont want your filter to get wet at all. but like i said, connect the intake to the throttle body using the bypass as the connector, that way you dont have to cut anything.

You shouldn't connect the bypass valve to the TB.
Generally, the Air Bypass Valve installs along the upper section of the induction pipe, close to the throttle body. Do NOT install it too close to the Inlet Air Temp sensor, and NEVER install an air bypass valve in between a throttle body and Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF). Be sure to check for clearance for the width of the Air Bypass Valve during installation, and to use the provided template that comes with your Air Bypass Valve to remove the proper amount of material from the induction pipe.

hey i just thought of someting, since you bought the one peice kit, install it and see where it goes, if theres still some clearence, buy a cheap extension intake peice and connect it with the bypass, maybe that'll work
so if you have a lot of floods why would you install a CAI on your DD? The bypass filter isn't a 100% guaranty is it? Why chance it? IMO, it's not worth it for the minimal (2?) hp you gain.
Any deep puddles, better put that clutch in.
I leanred my lesson the hard way, I had the V2 on my car a couple years ago, and there was a flood at my job, they told us all to move our cars, but by that time the road in between the parking lot and higher ground had about 5 inches deep of water rushing down it, needless to say, my car didn't make it across. Intake sucked up a little water before I was able to get the clutch in. I'm not sure if the V2 hangs dopwn by the road like on the I4, but if it does and you get constant heavy rain, I would definately not chance it.

With the car being lowereed, the intake was only sitting about 6 inches off the ground at the time.

hmm...Odd I took my car to get the intake installed at a pro shop and they went on installing it and then they called me and said this intake does not fit my car...Well what the heck? How does AEM say it fits my car and it doesnt. This is a stock engine so I'm sure if it's spec to fit then it should....Any ideas?
ha thats messed up, take apicture of it, maybe they sent you a i4 intake instead of the v6 one, but do you really need to take it to a shop to install it? your probably did since you wanna get the bypass on there right.
but yeah, did the guys say anything else except it didnt fit? take a pic, it'll help
