Transmission Seal
Okay Guys Ive been putting this one off for quiet some time now, due to it being winter and all. Now that spring is coming up, Im ready to get going again with the mods.
I have what I think is a busted seal on the tranny where the CV joint slides in the Tranny housing.
In this picture its part 13 I think.

Now to do this I have a few questions. Ive already done this work before, but had a little trouble doing a few of the steps and had seek help else where.
1. When reiserting the CV Joint into the transmission, do you have to take out the axel bearings, insert the CV joint into the tranny, then rebuild the axel joint while the CV joint is sitting inside the tranny.(Ive tried to get it in while everything was in one peice, and had little luck)
2. When replacing the castle nut, what tool is needed to get that thing all the way on there?
Thanks

u should be able to slide it in in one piece. i beleive it is a 36 mm socket.....and an impact gun for the castle nut... remember to bend the clip in so the nut cant loosen
to answer your questions, the axle will go back into the tranny all in one piece. there is a snap ring so sometime it will be a bitch to get it to go in, but make sure you are going straight in because there is the possibilty of ruining the axle seal. also the 17mm castle nut for the lower arm , you will need to remove the cotter pin and bolt comes out like any other bolt. (air tools are preffered) and the 36mm axle nut WILL need tobe taken off with air tools. i've done it without but it sucks having someone on the brakes while your tring to break the nut loose. dont forget the stake the axle nut when you put it back on and torque it.
if the bolt twisted for the castle nut then you need a new ball joint.
also it will make life a lot easier if you remove the axle nut and take the axle out.
