port and polish help

Default port and polish help

Ok im building a b18 so i can start the season off intell the b20 is done getting sleeved and i got a extra b18head and started porting and i got it to the size i wanted but im not taking the guides out cuz they are in good shape and i want to know what you guys use to get around the guides???? thanks

u havnt done much work on the more important part.. so lets w8t till u get around it.. the entry is of less importance anyways..

but it looks good, as far as the finish/texture etc..

go to summit racing and they have a port and polish kit...get and use that to get arount the valve guides

well it comes in a kit, a bunch of rounded off sanders..if that makes any sense...im assuming u have an air compressor so just hook on one of the cone shaped ones from the kit and u'll be able to get around the valve guides...i just did my this last weekend...my head will be out of the machine shop fri...so when i get it back i can show what it looks like...although my head will be semi put back together, just the valves and valve springs

bowl, short side radii, and the transition from bowl/shortside to the first cut (valvejob) etc.. basically the last 1/2" bfor the flow enters the chamber,
on the intake side (like u pictured)

you can't get around the guide without mowing it down...you don't have to take it to the roof though, you can just blend it to the top of the guide boss and shape the guide boss.
