Need info on H22 block with liners and Higher compression. . .
So i picked up an h22 block with 89mm Darton Liners in it. I know this is not the greatest option compared to sleeving but the price of the shortblock was great. Does anyone have any input on running these liners with 13.5 - 14 :1 compression?
Thanks guys

you can take an h block to 90.5- 91. No its not sleeved it has liners in it, they are different then sleeves- which is why i asked this question . .
They are still sleeves man, just a different design.
At 89mm you are at the limits of them. MID's may be able to go more though

I am not about to start going back and forth about the difference between a "liner" or a sleeve.
I never asked about boring the liner out any bigger, as they are not sleeves they are about as strong as a stock block, I know this. I was just asking about experiences with them, thats all

No wories man, just stating what i think is rght. I have the same liners/sleeves in my block bored to 88mm.
My take on it is that max bore if your boosting is 88 and 89 for N/A apps when dartons iron liners are being used.

my friend you are LOST... strong as a stock block... yeah right...
FYI liners = sleeves... its just not the MID design...
and i have used stock replacement liners/sleeves to a lot of HP, so you should have no problem there

This thread is turning into exactly what i did not want it to and what honda-tech is so famous for. People imposing their "knowledge" everywhere.
The LINERS that are in this block are simply iron liners. They are not a "sleeve" as one would think. The words- only a little stronger than a stock sleeve as the majority of the stock sleeve is left, these just line it- are in an email response from darton that i received. They just allow you to run forged pistons in the frm H block. THE END. they are not sleeves in any sense of the word.
Please dont proceed to tell me what I have, when i know full well what it is.
I asked for experiece with these and you gave it to me in the last sentence, so thanks

jake,
i believe we have spoken about this, but i am running these liners in the h23vtec. 12.2:1 compression. I can't really give any comments about them since the engine is not running but i have no reason at this point to doubt them.

Wow....what a cluster expletive over the meaning of words. Honda uses what most people consider a half and half "sleeve". Basically half the "sleeve" is aluminum and cast with the block and the other half is a steel "liner" that is pressed in. Apparently some people think the "sleeve" is the aluminum part and the "liner" is the steel part. Darton makes the distinction between the two so that you dont buy their replacement sleeves (ie liners....the name that Darton calls them) thinking they are a high performance sleeve.
In the commonly used honda jargon, you have replacement sleeves and performance sleeves....both are known as sleeves to 98% of the market. Even darton sells M.I.D. sleeves, flanged sleeves, repair sleeves, etc....and they refer to them all under a blanket term called a "liner"...not to mention if you look at the Darton catalog, they only sell sleeves....no liners.
As far as Im concerned, you are all morons because a sleeve is something I wear when it is cold outside and a liner is something I put in a trash can so I can easily remove it and move it to the dumpster......
