Default wrapping your Intake Manifold

what about wrapping ur IM like u would do for the EM....im just curious if anyone has done this and if it would help considering that wrapping it would help heat keep away from the outer part of the IM..well if anyone has any testimonials or info on it that would be rad

Wrapping the exhaust manifold is done to keep the heat IN the manifold. Cooling down the rest of the bay is just sort of a byproduct of that.

Wrapping the intake manifold will probably do the total opposite of what you are trying to achieve. If you are worried about the air temps under the hood transferring to the manifold....its probably not as great as the heat of the engine head transferring on to it. Aluminum itself is a great material that dissipates heat, so by wrapping it you will hold the heat in. you are better off with a hondata gasket.

just a little on that....i kept my stock rubber intake hose b/c i figured that u wanna keep it as cool as possible and if u get a cold air intake or short ram its usually made out of metal and metal absorbs heat as oppose to rubber which reflects heat....just wondering if any has any testimonials w/ say using a kn&n filter w/ stock hosing and using a cai or short ram

If you really want to wrap your IM you could use Gold Film. But its pretty price, I used it on my cai and made a custom heat shield box covered with it. You can get it from a couple of racing shops. But it will run you about $35 a liniar foot (1x2). Its self adhesive and is pretty easy to work with. To isolate your IM you could use a hondata gasket, plastice washer spacers for the bottom support braket and not sure if it would work but you could get a teflon stud kit to screw into the head to keep and metal from contacting the IM. A little over kill but will work.
