Default Looking 4 Opinions: Budget GS-R Rebuild

219,XXX on the ticker on my 95 GS-R Sedan. I want to slowly start collecting new and used parts so I can tear it down and build it back-up once it hits 250K.

Trying to keep it cheap. Give me some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Only thing I can say is Ebay. Find people there and LOCALLY that were going to do a rebuild/build, but then had their car stolen or wrecked to a point where they couldn't use the parts...that's how I got my stuff. Most of the stuff I bought for my build were still in original packaging. Good Luck!

rs pistons itr/b16 spec, way cheaper than forged and makes great power if you wanna go the n/a route. Those run around $150~ with pistons rings

But first what are your plans for your engine/car? DD with some decent n/a power? 200whp+ housin? Boost fiend?

The part in bold pretty much sums it up. I may add a small shot of nitrous (nothing more than 50HP), but it's not set in stone yet.

So are you saying get a set of new or used pistons from a B18C5 or a B16A? Do you know the casting number? What would make these better than just replacing the stock B18C1 castings?

Those are the ones I'm talking about. The ITR/B16 pistons have higher domes so they yield a higher compression. And since they're an oem design your not really sacrificing quality as long as it's built and tuned right.

Throw in some ITR/CTR cams, make sure you get bigger bolts for your rods and make sure the whole rotating assembly is balanced. That will give you a nice a power bump internally. Then you can had i/h/e to get some extra power.
