2000 b18c1 in a 99 ek problems
so im about to swap a 2000 gsr motor in my 99 hatch. the only thing is i want it to be bar legal. a friend of mine told me the ecu for this car wont work because of a chip in the ecu that runs to the key? so **** like that. so he told me to put a 99-00 si ecu in the car. the only problem with that is it wont pass bar. anyone with the same problem or know a solution to make a 2000 gsr motor with ecu into a 99 ek? thanks in advance.
IVE HEARD THERES A WAY TO BYPASS THAT ANTI THEFT FEATURE ON THE GSR ECU.............. THE 2000 SI ECU DOESNT USE THAT SENSOR THAT GSR MANIFOLDS NEED FOR THE BUTTERFLIES

I don't know much about barring a car but I have heard that there is a way to remove the key problem on the ecu. I don't think the "jdm" ecu has that feature.

A JDM ECU will work just fine, but will also fail US emissions regulations so no bar.
Only 2000-2001 GSR ECUs have an immobilizer so find a 99 USDM P72 and you should be fine. Don't run a stock ECU designed for 1.6 liters on a 1.8 engine, you'll be running lean.

yea some people put usdm gsr ecus in their car and pass fine but i dont know how to bypass the security feature on the ecu.
if i put the si ecu in there or the jdm one, it wont pass bar. damn....

You have a CEL though, correct? I've heard that it's possible to physically remove the feature from the ECU casing, but the ECU will then throw a code and that can't be avoided.
