Default #1261 is running again -WOT! (well not quite yet)

Finally fired it off around 130 am... bit loud with just a downpipe. Pretty excited for the fact it's been on jackstands since May. More to come and pictures from along the way.

Question is: Tuning? Was (IS) tuned w/ s200b at 5lbs jrsc. The only changes that I've made are: upgraded pulley to 8lb and changed header from 4-2-1 comptech to a kamikazi 4-1. I'm having a hard time tracking down a decently priced and competent hondata tuner. Several people have advised me to change to chrome? What are thoughts on tuning and if I should change from hondata. Would it be crazy to drive it with it tuned at 5lbs just for a break in period (500ish miles)?

Run down of what I've done (new):

Crank, bearings, head bolts, rings, valve stem seals, timing belt, plugs, all (every freaking one) seals top and bottom, water pump, 6 puck act clutch and hd pressure plate, t/o bearing, injector o rings, header, resurfaced flywheel, front wheel studs, plugs, replaced sc coupler, sc oil, drivers axle, belts, outlaw engineering intake manifold/throttle body/iacv gaskets, sc pulley, keyways, all boots and probably missed a few things.

Thanks for the read and any advice would be well appreciated.

You kind of hinted an answer at your own question. You mentioned finding a 'competent hondata tuner' in your area.

That is more or less the issue. Rather than getting a system and finding a tuner for it, it is probably best to find a tuner in your area who kicks ***, then inquire on what he/she likes to tune and go with that.

I've learned, and payed dearly for going the aforementioned route. Not so much fun. Nope.

100% running/driving last night.

I put 46.8 miles on her last night and on the way home my front pad destroyed itself and then ate the rotor.

Argh. -just wanted to vent.

What pads are those, so I know to never get a set

With you driving around, I assume you got the car tuned?

Can't recall... I'll inform you tonight. I bought new autozone rotors and ceramic pads last night. Changing them out tonight.

It is still tuned at 5lbs (old tune) however, keeping it under 3500 rpms and not providing boost to the motor keeps it running at a good a/f. I've spoken to a few jrsc s200b guys and they state that I'm fine till it breaks in -then tune.

Damn!! What do you think caused this to happen? Maybe they weren't seated? Just seems kind of random for that to happen.

I've heard both sides. One being what you've said that is quoted and the other being more or less the Import Builders method of establishing A/F on the first start up followed by WOT (done by the tuner) to seat the rings in regards to how the car will be driven.

inspect your plugs regularly to make sure things are running right seeing that you did not tune it yet

It was late at night when I put it back together... I'm 99% confident that I properly seated them. Perhaps the year of sitting in the elements didn't help. I'll be out there in about 2 hours replacing both front rotors/breaks/hardware. -I'll see exactly what happened. on me if I f'd up a nice slotted rotor due to rushing it (probably not the case).

True... autozone rotors ftw and in hand.

Well... the 1% chance that I f'd up is what happened. I'm not gonna actually divulge the truth. Let's just say that I'll put the new rotors and pads on this weekend. Kinda po'd right now. I need a .
