Banging Noise From TEIN Basics/Aftermarket Coilovers
I just installed TEIN Basics last night. Since then I have had this bad noise coming from my rear suspension. It is definately contact between two things. I don't know what it could be though.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be uninstalling and reinstalling the suspension of time permits.
Anybody have any idea what it could be? Doesn't necessarily have to be an experience with a TEIN Basic. We could have messed up the same part on the install.
Rear damper does not have a right and left correct? Only the front?
I don't necessarily have the sound when I go over bumps. MY driveway doesn't make the sound. But when I go over the tiniest imperfection in the road it does. Also when I drive slow (10mph) the sound happens a lot more. Maybe I just can't hear it otherwise.
Im likely to have forgotten to tighten something, I hope.

the rear spring for the coilover is too short therefore it doesn't really sit on the spring instead all the weight is on the shock it self. That causes the banging noise in the back. The key to fixing it is to get a bit bigger spring coil in length or just use a tein s-tech rear spring and key the tein basic shock on the back.
interesting info on the coil length...are you running a setup like this?
RP, are you running an aftermarket exhaust or stock? it could be the exhaust piping (stock or aftermarket) hittin the passenger coil. check the clearance on that.

I have the same setup and mine dont have that problem. My front left makes some noise but a lot of people have said that teins make noise. But not saying that there isnt something wrong with yours though. Just make sure everything is tight even the bolts inside the trunk.
if you get stechs for the rear that woud throw the car completly out of balance and it will handle like **** and oversteer like a bitch. honda made the springs stiffer in the rear for a reason. go through the bolts again and make sure its all tight. unfortunatly, noises are inevitable with aftermarket parts.
