Default Is this an apexi N1 , it just arrived but im confused by the size...

just quick question, my N1 arrived today but when i opened the box i was feeling down...The N1 shocked me, it is so small , 2.5 inlet and 3.5 out. Is this correct? i searched on you tube and they sound nice, but they seem bigger then the one I got. So just quick question i hope i get answered quickly thanks, and i already googled it and i still have question wether i have the n1.
Here are some pictures:

i am greatly un-satisfied..... it isnt deep , it isnt loud its rasp buyt only between the 3000- 5000 rpm's , but compared to the universal muffler i had, i do feel an increase of speed . speed over loud noise, anytime and i know chrome is i need new rims hehehe here are pics of universal muffler wich was louder then my n1, oh and my apexi n1 is the catback exhaust system okay

why is the n1 so raspy.....i like the muffler , but the 20$ muffler was louder , deeper, and at the mall i could make 50 alarms go off....

and i also got some mudguards...

i have dc headers , apexi cat back , and cold air intake for the gsr....
but when my teggy engages vtec, god the n1 roars....

How long have you had the N1 on your car? I'm pretty sure the exhaust system just has to break in alittle. After awhile that thing will be so loud it gets annoying. Trust me I know first hand.

Are you running this with or without a catalytic converter... Makes a big difference as far as sound goes.. without a cat

Who installed it? Alot of times if the welds are not finished all the way, it causes a slight amount of exhaust to leak, and the sound becomes raspy. Buuuuuuuuuutttttt to be honest, the N1 doesn't have as deep as a sound as the slightly larger mufflers, but it does look very nice, and large mufflers look silly! Just my two cents. I run an Apexi Noir (World sport in the flat black) and it sounds deep yet nice and quiet at idle and lower rpms. I think your N1 looks nice though.

actually i thought that the apexi N1 was one of the louder mufflers i've heard. i have one on my 90 ls, and its very loud. i have 3 inch in though. but i'm boosted too, mabye thats why its so loud. my del sol has a 2.5 inch in and its pretty loud too.

Having a turbo on your car would actually quiet it down a bit as compared to an N/A car.

why don't you stop making the rest of us look bad by intentionally having a ridiculously loud muffler

if you want to quiet the rasp down put a cat on

I've had my Apex N1 muffler on for about a year now, and I love it. Not annoyingly loud, but loud when it counts (during vtec). When I first got it I thought it seemed rather small aswell, but after installing it and driving with it for a while I'm used to it and obviously satisfied.

N1 exhausts are meant to flow a lot of air, they are not meant to sound good. You drive a honda, the day you bought that car you forfeited a nice sounding exhaust note.

You got yourself the universal apexi n1. Basically it just comes just as that muffler portion, and you have to have it welded to exhaust piping as well as weld on a set of hangers.....you got yours used i'm assuming?

Here's what my genuine apexi n1 catback system sits.

if this is true then heres your problem, running no resonator or cat with any muffler on a honda will sound like ***

hmmmm .... i have 2.25 piping all the way , the 20$ was sold to my friends, and the n1 had hangars, i didnt have to weld any on it . i took all pipin and n1 to a muffler shop, but they didnt weld hangars. well compared to the you tube ones, my n1 isnt as loud or raspy . like i said the n1 lets more air flow, so i get more power. but it is loud , hella loud on v-tec so im satisfied. power over noise any time . <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jhammond_82 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">actually i thought that the apexi N1 was one of the louder mufflers i've heard. i have one on my 90 ls, and its very loud. i have 3 inch in though. but i'm boosted too, mabye thats why its so loud. my del sol has a 2.5 inch in and its pretty loud too. </TD></TR></TABLE>

boost would give you a deeper tone dude... not a louder one

i have 3 inch turbo back no res and an apexi N1, and i think its louder than ALOT of na 4 cyl cars. if turbo makes your car "quieter", then why is the evo, wrx, and rx7 so loud? are you trying to tell me that the na lancer, impreza and rx7's are louder than the turbo models? gtfo. and i don't want to hear, "but, but thats different." cause its not. what you said is not always totaly true. watch some dyno video's on youtube, turbo is not always louder. neither is na. but in my honest opinion, i have yet to hear an after market exhaust on a boosted car sound "quiet"er than na.

no, you are not totaly wrong. it will sound raspy. but i bet that if you were to get a full exhaust header and a complete apexi N1 cat back, it won't sound as raspy. if will have a deep tone. go to youtube and type in apexi N1. there are all kinds of clips. na and boosted. as for which is louder? my opinion still stands.
