ok.i have tokico blues with adjustable coil overs all around(came with my 96 civic ex) and i belive that my front right shock is blown but im not sure. how can i tell if its blown or not..everytime i make a left turn i feel the right side tire rubbing the inside of the wheel well..i also tried raising the 1 side and it rides fine and then i get the rubbing again anytime i make a left turn especially if i have a passenger..

also if anyone knows where i can get 2 tokico blue replacements for a good price =]

Check to see if it's are leaking fluid. Chances are it probably is blown.


I'd advise staying away from the blues if you have any sort of drop. Unless you like replacing your shocks frequently... Look into Illuminas.

 

it doesnt look like it leaks..maybe it leaked out and it got washed up in the rain? idk...is there anywhere i can get just a front pair of shocks?

You are looking for Tokico Blue shocks. They are non-adjustable.

Are you sure that's what you have?

 

it says tokico blue on the shocks..im pretty sure thats what i have..was it not meant for coilovers?

 

If there is fluid coming out of the shock where the piston goes into the body, then it's blown.

If the shocks have been bottomed out a lot and you're riding too low, they may be worn out. They may also be worn out if they're old. If the car is excessively bouncy, they may be worn or blown.

Either that or maybe your camber kit slipped or something.

Look on ebay for tokico replacements. The performance shop around here sells them one by one if you want. Contact the ebay seller if they are a store. Ask them if you can buy just one. Or go online and google "tokico blue". I'm sure you'll find a dealer.

 

thanks alot guys...its mid nite right now so i will have to check tomorrow to b 100% sure that its blown..the ride isnt bouncy at all....it just rubs wen i make a left turn even after raising it as much as i could on that 1 side..thanks again!!!!!! i will check it out tomorrow.

 

wow i also have tokico blues on my 96 and it does the same thing but only when i turn the wheel ALL the way to the left to make a U turn.. guess ima check it this weekend

 

you're probably rubbing/too low...............

when you hit a bump the tire hits and when you turn the tire rubs too right?

why do you think everybody slows when they see a freaking pot hole in their lowered car?

you have 2 options, go back to stock or learn how to drive a modified car, if this was your first car, i would've recmoneded you against from buying a modded car just becuase you don't know how to drive properly yet.

 

i hope youre not talking to me. my car was handed down to me from my brother which already had problems and ive been around SLAMED cars for like 10 years now and im only 18. its not that big of a deal iits only when i turn the wheel all the way and then i just turn it back right a little bit and its fine.

haha no i never said that. im just saying ive been around them as in the passenger's seat and helping my brother work on cars at his shop. so obviously i have picked up a lot over the years and obviously know how to drive a lowered car

first my tires dont rub when i go over a bump..2nd..dont give me options especially if u dont know what kind of driver i am....ive also been around modified cars for many years and im aware to dodge pot holes and go slow over speed bumps...i ride on low profile tires all year round and havent bent a single rim where there is a bunch of people who i know bend their rims like no tommorow in my area..so just a little advice..dont jump to conclusions by telling people how to drive..thanks!
