Default Tires Question, 195/50/15. kumho asx, falken ziex, yoko es100

I been seeing good review on these tires but don't know which one to get. Used mostly for daily driver and no track. Since I live in rhode island i see rain/snow a lot. so all-season tires is needed here. Please help!!

The Yokohama ES100 isn't an all-season tire, so don't get that one.

The Kumho ASX is much, much, MUCH better than the Falken Ziex. Get the Kumho ASX.

My bad. I looked at Kumho's website and apparently they don't make the ASX in that size.

So I guess you'll need to get the Falken Ziex...

I've had Kumho ASX's on my SI wheels in 195-55-15. I liked em. Good tire. They should fit LS wheels because they are also 15x6.5. Another option is to get 205-50-15 and spend a lil extra money; but Im not sure if you want to do that.

It's too big for a '92-95 Civic. That's the size that Integras use. Stick with 195/50-15.

Another option in 195/50-15 is the Kumho AST. It's not as good as the ASX, but it's cheap - $41/tire at the Tire Rack. (Compared with $48/tire for the Falken Ziex ZE-912.)

Yes, on your '94 Integra you can use 195/55-15 or 205/50-15, either should work fine. The ASX is available in both those sizes. IIRC it's $4 cheaper in 205/50.

I have the ASXs, they were good when it was wet, but they are great now that its dry . They stop really nicely when wet, better than my old Zexius tires I had (Les Schwab, came w/ the car, ended up taking them off due to bad toe wear on one tire, and just replaced them all w/ the Kumho ASXs). (205/40/R16)

I like my ZIEX's ok for what they are. I much prefered my old Kumho Ecsta Supra712's (now SPT?).

Falkens are 205/50R15...Kumho's were 195/55R15.

The SPT replaced the 712 in the Kumho lineup, but they are VERY different tires. (The performance of the SPT is much, much, MUCH better than the 712 in every way.)

The Ziex is an all-season tire; the 712 and SPT are summer tires. All-seasons can grip better than summer tires on snow and in frigid cold; in exchange for that added flexibility, they don't grip as well as summer tires in moderate to warm temperatures.

Takes about 500 miles or so to get them worn in (you will notice they are AMAZINGLY sticky at first then they kinda become normal tires).

Once you feel they are worn in and you have properly tested them (pushed them to their limits ), tell us what you think. Oh and don't push their limits on high speed corners on public roads and then not make the corner .

I have had Kumho ASX 235-45-17 on my Accord for a while, now. I have put a lot of miles on them in a short amount of time.

As they get close to the end of the tread life, they get hard and start making noise.

That's the only thing I have bad to say. Otherwise it has been a good experience.

They grip better in the hot and better in the dry than you might expect for an all season tyre. They are not as good in the ice and snow as some other tyres, but most of us aren't in those conditions very often.
