Default woohoo!! i made my first turbo manifold!

(other than the couple log manifolds ive done anyways) but its not on a Honda (its for a 4g63) and the pics arent up yet. ill have them up tonight. its just tacked together but i still wanted to know what people thought. i was gonna try a mini ram but it wasnt going to work so then i decided to try another design that i had seen before but i dont see very often. its where the 2 inside runners come up over the top and in to the outside most collector tubes and the 2 outside runners go under the inside runners and the connect to the inner 2 most collector tubes.............. anybody know what im saying and know the name of the design. i was thinking it kinda looked like a "stinger". anyways ill get the pics up as soon as i get off work so u guys can see.

Im not sure what you mean with the design, but pics would help.
Gonna be hard to beat guys like Magnus with manifold design!

i just checked and yep................. the design is like the one in RC000E sig i hope he didnt design it because now i feel like a cop cat Doh! i mounted the collector in the postion i wanted with a brace and started peiceing stuff together and that is what end up working and being the end result. pics will be up pretty soon here. my plenum design for my intakes are similar to the magnus ones but mine dont blow apart under boost. i couldnt help it. ive never seen there turbo manifolds before .............. well maybe i have but didnt know it. wats it look like?

the next car that ive got lined up im making an intake and turbo manifold for also......... i think hes wanting to go with a 4294 or 372. but its will be similar to my neon intakes. anyways here the pics of the turbo manifold......... the wastegate outlet off the collector is going to get moved down a bit before its all welded together. well, whatcha guys think???

looks good.

wastegate transition =

not sure on how many of these you've done, but i would weld colector first then 1 and 4 , then your two smal pieces on the collector on 2 and 3. weld 2 and 3 off the manifold, then finish up with two welds on the head and the collector extensions.

that will make it easer to weld. you won't have to get in tight spaces (besides inside of collector).

i like run-on sentences.

Wow, that does look nice.

Now, heres what Im seeing from my DSM knowledge.

First, is that going to clear the fans?

And 2nd, is it going in a 1g or 2g chassis? (looks like a 1g head which I would hope with that size of turbo )

The reason I ask that is because if that is going in a 2g, youre going to have intake clearance problems with the front tranny mount/x member.

But really man, that looks very nice.

I'm curious what gen it's going on as well. It seems to sit the turbo pretty low near the front motor mount, and the manifold may have hood clearance issues up top--both problems with a 1g that I can see.

its going in a 1g............. the tubes tha come up sit flush with the valve cover and the front motor mount was an issue........... at most i may have to clearance a little bit of the bracket and the rad and fans are no issue............ hes running an oem rad with slimline fans.

Yup. Very sexy. Are you willing to share how you made that cut? Any plans for a V-band DP?

there was no secret about that damn cut it kicked my ***. i cant really explain it because i dont know how to but i did use a belt sander quite a bit on the end where the belt turns because its very narrow there and i could sand some curves into it.

excelent work on the wastegate connecting pipe.. the trick to it should have been to just use a plasma cutter! Then just smooth it all out

i used a band saw and a few times a sawzall with some torch blades which the stainless still ate up.

use 309 .045 for the pipe and jump it up to 3/32 for the pipe to flange. 309 comes out a lot cleaner then 308 or 316.

i'm assuming you asking me? either way, yeah, i've never had an issue using 309. only thing i guess i'm forgetting is that if you using 316 pipe, i would us 321 rod. usually you want to step up one grade for the rod.

in fact, i don't think i'm going to be stocking 308 rod anymore at all.

sometimes its harder to get 309 rod locally depends on the welding supply shop or they only offer it in 3/32 and thicker.

my local place has .045 in stock
