DX 91 crankshaft bolt problems
The pulley bolt will not come off at all!!!
Tried this DIY since the belt wrench didn't help at all, and this site has failed me too: http://www.cadvision.com/blanc....html
Now I have a broken pulley:
You can see other images here:

including the steel bolts I had used for the job.
Any other assistance on how to remove it, or what kind of tools I can use to remove it would be great.

Also remember air is better than electric so if you can use air, do it.

I have even seen many air impact guns fail at getting these things off. If you can, find someone with one of these guns...

I have never had mine not get one off almost instantly. It is not a cheap gun, but it is like magic to see the stuff it does with no issues.

I also tried the impact gun, air and electric.
They weren't cheap, I bought one of each, and I'm going to Sears and returning them, since I only used it for less than a minute each.

you need to crank up the pressure on your gun then..
here is how you can do it. put your car in first gear on the ground. then have a buddy mash the brakes and you hit it with the gun using 140 PSI.. you will either blow the seals on your impact gun, or the bolt will come off.

WEnt to give it it a try, and noticed the shaft was spinning in the direction to tighten it. and I tried setting the car into gear, and it didn't work either, and the gun just went "TSHHHHHHHH" when I applied it, I think it got stuck, now I'm waiting for a friend from Dublin/Oakland to come over with his tools to help me out, it was last resort, cause I think it's a long ways away.
I joined the forum for this question, I never had a question before, and I'm surprised someone didn't mention that I should just swap out the engine...

A large compressor and a Good impact gun will always be the easiest way to go.
Even if you buy an expensive gun if you don't have the air to back it up its useless.
If you do have a decent sized air compressor and a good gun make sure the gun is turned up to the highest setting and the compressor is allowing enough psi.
You can try tightening the bolt first or try using heat.
Good Luck!!

I couldnt get mine off either i finally just took the plug out of the no.1 cylinder and stuck a good size diameter piece of rope in the hole i think it was around the same size as 2 gauge or so, put a fair amount in the hole and crank the engine by hand until it starts coming up and the rope will stop the piston from coming up all of the way and wil stop the crank from moving, its not the approved method but my air compressor didnt put out enough psi and my impact was junk back then . i finally broke down and bought a good one.
I ended up going with the blowtorch/heating method.
It took 4 tries, I tried once, when I started to smell smoke, then agian when it was red, then again when it was bright red, then again when I had melted the whole plastic panel that protected the timing belt, now I have melted plastic all over the place.
I was using a 710lb/torque craftsman air impact gun (the black chrome one at sears) that didn't get the bolt off, till the 4th try, and it took a while, but that got it off. The impact drill is so expensive (US$279.00)

I finally got some images from the work I did, so far, I am glad I got the crankshaft bolt off, that saves me a lot of headaches of rolling the car to a mechanic.
Anyways, here is the pic of me heating up the bolt for removal, and in the process melting all the plastic protecting the timing belt, and melting the timing belt to the pulley behind it.
Super heating it with my butane blow torch:
Here is the smoke rising from the top:
End result of the front cover melting all over the place:
Thanks for all the support!

I'm so glad I read this post as I am about to try to remove the crankshaft bolt. I had a hard time trying to remove the engine mounting bolts and now, with this info, forget using manual tools. I've got to get aired, u know, airgun or something. But I am a tad nervous about using a blowtorch to remove this bolt and melt the lower timing belt cover. Is there any other way to do this? How about using one of those mobile mechanics just to remove this bolt? Thanks, guys.
Here's a few pictures from my timing belt project:
QUESTIONS:
When I pulled the spark plug housing, one of them had oil while the other three did not. Is that normal or should I be worried? Car was running fine. Just wanted to change the timing belt before it breaks on me.
Two of the grommets were so hard to get out as it was melted stuck to the bolts.

I'm sorry for sounding so rookie-ish, but how do you use this tool? Given all the inputs above about how hard it is to remove this bolt, will this special tool make it easier? Thanks.
ya it makes it super easy, but it wont work on some dampners because they dont have the hex provision that the tool works off of. dont forget...the strongest blows with an impact gun are the first 3 hammers. so hit it quickly, then back off, then more torch, then hit it quickly, then back off. if you just sit there and hammer on it, yu are wearing the internal seals of the gun out.
