Hi I am doing a swap from a D16Z to a B16a Sir II engine with automatic transmission. Theres a lot more wires on my B16A auto tranny compared to my D16Z auto tranny what should I do?? Thanks

lol...sorry dude...I dont mean to laugh..but that's a pretty vague and hilarious question.

What extra wires? Wire colors? Locations? Are they leading to any sensors? Pictures? Cmon.

The B16A automatic transmission is completely electronic. There are 2 shift solenoids for the gears and 2 trim solenoids for the torque converter clutch. There are also two sensors, the countershaft and mainshaft speed sensors. You will need the TCM for this transmission to function.

The D16Z6 automatic has 2 trim solenoids for the torque converter clutch, and a completely hydraulic shifting system. (No solenoids to actuate the gears, only fluid pressure)

The B16A trans does not require a throttle control cable, as the TCM gets this reading from the TPS sensor.

So in effect, you will need to run wires for the shift solenoids and the sensors, and you should be able to reuse the torque converter clutch solenoid wires if you find a connector and repin them under the dash.

 

The TCM is the Transmission Control Module. This unit is responsible for activating the shift solenoids in the B16 transmission, without it it will not shift, this is a required item. I have not researched compatibility with other TCM's, but an Integra electronic shift TCM may work. What year is that engine/tranny?

 

I'm not sure what year the engine is.. my car is a 1994 civic si. The automatic tranny is from an integra code S4XA. I have a P30 ecu.. is a P72 better?? I heard it has better shift points. What is the difference between all these ECU's? What does the TCM look like?? Thanks for all ur help
