i have a stock 1999 civic si with the stock b16a2. the car has 194,000 miles on the motor. what my problem is after i start my car up and the rpm's vary from 3 back down to 1. The motor also sputter. the check engine is on and i had some one look at the code a it said thats it running rich. so your help would be very helpful.

does it have the stock ecu in it???

my buddy put a piece of sh*t ebay p28 in his si, and it did the exact same thing.

 

clean your iacv .check all the vacume leak. intake manifold gasket. TB gasket..etc.

Yes do check the idle air control valve, my friend had the same symptoms when his was bad. Good luck

 

iacv...and check your primary o2...could be dumping too much fuel.... the reason for running rich and possibly dumping enough fuel to cause the motor to want to stall...what kind of mpg's are you getting?
