sometimes when i start off my engine on a cold morning the oil light would come back on after having the engine started. it would stay on for about 2 seconds and go back off. other than that it's not on while the engine is running. could anything be causing this?

 

Are you using the correct oil (5w30) and changing it on a regular basis along with the correct filter?

 

OPEN THE HOOD Look towards the drivers side of the motor. You should find a little loop of metal covered by plastic.
That is the top of the DIPSTICK You can pull it out to see if the engine has the proper amount of oil in it.

 

yes i change the oil on a regular basis and i use the correct filter and oil and im not dumb enough not to check my oil levels. so far it's only happened a few times but my oil level is in between both dots on the dipstick. any other ideas on what it might be? theres no oil leaks and the engine isnt burning oil either.

 

I think it is a oil pressure light and not really an oil level light. So, it is indicating low oil pressure.

What mileage is on your car?

 

im having the same problem. i have a 94 lx auto, and my oil is also between the 2 dots
