Guys I'm looking for some input.
Standard GSR/ITR rod bearing clearances are 0.0015". I looking for some guidance on going more loose. The car is going to see limited action as a daily driver and the strip at least 6 times this year.
Thanks

.0018-.0020 does it for me
although id love to have a refresher on oil thickness to clearance ratio (hope i said it correct) subscribing! hope the more knowledgeables share sum engine building magic dusts hehe

Ok, I've got another answer of 2 mils on the mains and rods.
Is anyone running mixed clearances between the mains and rods?

As someone put it before, "set your clearances for longevity, and change the viscosity for pressure".
Ive never run anything besides stock oil clearances. It seems to me like more power would be found in larger PTW clearances. Thats what makes sense in my mind...

the guy that assembled my motor had the mains a little tighter than the rods. he said it was good for keeping the rod bearings oiled good,i guess the pressure travels the path of least resistated. i told him i was hard on them, but mine was built with longevity in mind.

Make that three.
There used to be a great article on clevite's website explaining bearing clearances, I can't seem to find it now. In the article, they recomend 0.00075-0.001" per inch of journal diameter plus another 0.0005" for performance applications. For b-series that would equal 0.0018-0.0022". Seems to agree with alot of builders on here.

Talk to Donf (:cough: experienced/real engine builder). He can tell you good info if you are worthy. All reccomendations re clearances need to be based off of intended use, parts quality etc. So a universal run 2/2 is good but there maybe other things to consider.
