Default Emissions...

So im just about to get my winter beater 88-DX to pass emissions and i have a quick question. I passed everything but HC and usually that meens its not getting full combustion. I'm going to get a can of that famous "Guaranteed to Pass" stuff, But would retarding the dizzy help too?? I've heard in the passed that this will help you get better combustion. i barely failed HC so I hope this will make the thing pass... Thanks for any and all help

High HC are caused by an incomplete burn. The problem is ANYTHING can cause high HC's. Check your spark plugs, change your oil, make sure you have no vacuum leaks. You can also try to heat your cat up a lot before you get it smogged. The cat is more efficient when it is hot. Drive for a while then let your car sit and idle for a while before your test.
