RJ- Welcome (though you don't really need one because you've been around here for a good while). Have fun being a Mod. I'm sure you'll do a great job.

Scott- Perhaps we should consider this as a sabattical?....

I'm not the new moderator, but you can have a "special picture" next to your name - it's called an "avatar" - by clicking on "My Profile" at the top of this screen, then click on "Avatar" and follow the instructions.

The text that appears under your avatar is your location, also from your profile.

We can't have a moderator whom drives a Saturn, that's like illegal or something.

haha... that commercial always makes me laugh... with all the boyz next to the riced out Tenzo civic. Ah well... and no my car is a coupe, no 3rd door here

A saturn?? I wonder if it's got that tricked out door and ****???
Thanks all for the words of support. I just want to have a little fun, share our stories and advice (including as our stories, and pictures, of embarrassment from times like NASA race weekends) and keep a good 'online' community going. I think its great so far, so lets all have a or a and keep on doing it!

For those who may not know me personally i've been autocrossing for the past 4 or so years (currently running in G-Stock with my 95 SC2) with DC, Blue Ridge and NE Region SCCA and got involved with NASA this past year to do track events, flag, and work the races. I went to school at JMU and just finished, where i helped start and was an officer with Madison Motorsports. If money permits i will probably be building a honda-challenge car over the winter - and hopefully (fingers crossed) i can obtain a competition license next spring and go get some wheel-to-wheel action!

You can't blame him, really.
I can't and don't blame him. Perfectly understandable. Hell, I'm a simple H-T user and get very tired of certain b.s. around here. I was just trying to figure out how "over it" he is...

With regard to -RJ serving as H-T moderator while owning a Saturn, isn't that like electing a foreign national to Congress?

I only say it in jest....... i thought we all understood this? Being in a 'competition' forum, its easy to joke about all the wanna-be street racers...

Or are we all supposed to be super-stoopid-serious all the time and not have a little sarcasmn and joking? I enjoy the arguments over which M&M's are the best and that legos own3d lincoln logs

Hell, even if i wanted to i couldnt convert my car to 'stunna' status at the rate i go through tires and brakes and everything else breaking on my car at an alarmingly consistent rate.

RJ

Great...more and more of this.

Well, it is a Saturn

And yes, I had one for about 3 years. Worst 3 years of automobile ownership in my life. I think it was in the shop for about half of those 3 years, and I'm not kidding about that.

And I don't really care what car you drive, I actually think it's great to see different cars getting beaten on! Most people here probably don't know me, since I mostly just lurk, and I've only autocrossed 3 times so far, but I am learning a lot just hanging out.

Yes i've had my share of issues with it. So far.. its been ok. Not terrible, not great. The build quality of those cars is just so damn crappy, and its rather unfortunate - if it were better, it might just be a decent car.

Matt L. - who forsees his catch phrase and percentage being screwed with by his best friend quite frequently.

I had a 95 SL2, bought used in 97 (or 98???) and it was nothing but problems. 3 alternators (and a battery killed by a bad alternator), blown tranny, completely rebuilt engine (top and bottom end), it was one thing after another. It was still never running right even after the rebuild, but I sold it soon after that. I didn't feel too bad about that though, I sold it to a Saturn dealer.

The car i currently have had the engine overhauled at the saturn dealer before i bought it last year (used of course). After a few thousand miles and a very careful break-in, its burning oil slowly. Then a little more - i bring it up to the service manager, who at the time, would fix nothing that was supposedly covered under 'warranty' they gave me as his 'best tech' was on the job and there's 'no way' anything could have gone wrong. Now at 15K on the engine, its sucking oil at an alarming rate, and they are finally now working with me to get it resolved. I am pushing for a new crate engine, and i'd pay the labor for the installation. I'm guessing the cylinder walls were worn, they didnt take this into account during the overhaul and just tore it down for new rings and seals (didnt even put in a new timing chain or clutch at the time, which are cheap on parts but $$$ in labor while the engine is still in the car).
