Default 1997 gsr a/c problem

i've been told that obd2 integras have a sensor in the ac unit, so that when the free on gets low the ecu keeps it from turning on to not burn up the motor..anyone heard this before? also, there a way to test the a/c clutch? when i press the button it doesnt click or anything...so wanted to know if that sensor thing is true and if i just put some free on back in, that it'll work again...thanks!

They have a pressure sensor, so when your freon is low it wont let the compressor clutch engage. This is to protect the compressor because the freon is mixed with oil which lubricates the compressor. The sensor is located near the front left corner of the car, its mounted on a high side line (the thinner of the two a/c lines) and it has a two wire connector. Good luck.
