Default Problem with factory NAV in a 07 Civic

I just bought a 07 Civic with factory NAV. A couple of minutes after the NAV is on I get a message saying "DVD Read Error, contact a dealer", something to that effect. I get the maps at first and then that message after a minute or so. I consulted the manual and the disk looks fine, no scratches at all and definitely no deep ones (I'm an IT guy by trade for the past 12 years or so, so I've seen my share of screwed disks). When I pop the disk back in the cycle continues, works perfect for a minute or so and then the same message. I intent on taking it into the dealer but I wanted to check on here if anyone has had a similar issue and what the outcome was.

Crazy idea,

I have a feeling there's a DVD read error with the unit - IE the nav can't read the disks AND you should take it to the dealer

Now before you call me a dick and give a "thanks douchebag"

Let's think

Disk isn't busted
Works after multiple tries but then errors again
Disk isn't busted
"DVD Read Error"

Logic tells me they'll replace the navigation head unit.

Dick, thanks for the insight. That is also what I'd guess. My post wasn't really looking for troubleshooting help but mainly to see if anyone else had seen this problem and what their outcome was.

If you're IT that solution should have come fairly quickly for you.

I do IT as well.

That's great.... Anyhow, read the last sentence of my original posts. I wasn't looking for guesses at what the problem is. Anyone have this similar problem that would like to share what the outcome was?

Reading comprehension guys. He could care less about troubleshooting and advice on getting it fixed. Read the actual question

I don't have NAV, so I've not had that issue.

so the op asks "has anyone had this problem?"

and you answer:

Thanks IT GUY, I'm glad someone understands. And don't get me wrong, I up for some troubleshooting but nothing has been offered, I've done what I can with the DVD itself.

Now that's what I was looking for. My DVD looks great but I must admit I tried to make a copy of it (for safe keeping) and it would get 44% done ripping and would get sector read problems. I know people have had issues backing up theirs so I wasn't sure if it was copy protection or a back disk. I tried a lot of different utilities so I started to wonder about the DVD itself. We'll see, it's going in tomorrow.

Note the "what the outcome was" portion

I am glad to hear it was just the disk.
