Try the H-T Marketplace, craigslist, eBay, newspaper, etc.. -- good luck getting an overpriced SI for that price...

X2

Plus they are hot jailbait *** for theives.
EM1's are hotcakes for theivery.
I would say spend half or less of that 5gs on a beater
and the other half on a motor swap, keeping it on the downlow.

A) Because you live in California, where every Honda is painfully overpriced, and

B) Because you're looking for an EM1 Civic Si, which you won't find for less than $5000, even with a salvage title. "Nice" ones still routinely fetch double that.

So guess what, looks like you can't afford one. Time to up your budget, or start looking for a different car.

Under 5K? Only chance for an Si will be a salvage title. And probably beat pretty hard at that.

Could maybe do a poor condition EX for that. DX or VP may a possibility, though, on a poorer condition.

no way you'll find an em1 for that price. you could probably find a nice 92-95 hatch with a B-swap in it for that price. that's what i'd go for, but i am biased cuz i own one and love it lol. and i don't think honda's are "painfully overpriced" in cali. that's a stupid thing to say. they're not overpriced they are just more than eastcoast cars cuz they aren't rust infested haha.

You've obviously never left California. Congratulations on your cluelessness.

Oooo damn some bold statements... Untrue but bold!

Just go on cars.com and see the difference, haha. To the OP; Honestly dude that's impossible. I bought my SI in brand new condition with 57xxx miles on it from a dealership for 12k.

If I could do it again I would rather buy one for 8gs and give it a face lift, maybe cheaper... and more fun.

If I could completely change the car I have, I would get a 98+ teg, or a 96-99 ex shell and do what I have to do. Could have a shell and a type-r swap for cheaper than an SI. But hey, then you can't say you have an SI right? lol

I guess my point is your going to have to build your way up to a civic par with (or better than) an si with the budget you're working with. That or save your money a little longer and buy a really badly beaten SI.

Good luck!
