Default So what's the deal? Please help me out.

Arlight so latley I have been hearing this ticking noise, its been no big deal but now the noise is louder then im sure its suppose to be. I have a feeling it's the LMA's but im not sure because I never witnessed anything like this before. Or could it be Valve Lashing? I have no idea whats goin on with this motor...In the future I want to do a Port & Polish and a re-surface to the head but should I just pull the head out now and get all that done and just replace the LMA's? Also should I do a compression test before the head gets done, just curious when its done getting its P&P if one of the cylnders would be sour would the motor blow on me due to a strong head?

sounds like the lifters but it also could be a leak in the intake manifold gasket.. that is what sounds like to me but good luck

Sorry, but neither of those are possible or make any sense.

Start by visually checking the rockers pads and cams for wear or damage. Look the valve springs over really good, to see if any are broken. Check the valve lash when the engine is cold. Push down on the middle rocker arm, if its soft or sticking then the lma's should get replaced. Start with those things, then report back.

Last time I checked, Hondas do not run pushrods and lifters.

An intake manifold leak would definately not sound like a tick.

Have you checked your valve lash recently? Proper valve clearance has been known to reduce some of the ticking noises associated with Honda lost motion assemblies (LMA).

If you have a first gen B16 head (OBD0), your LMA pads could be worn down. This is not uncommon, but be sure to check other things first.
