Default Headgasket Swap, Car Won't Start HELP

alright, so here's the deal, the other day my friend was driving his 1992 Honda Civic CX 16 Valve D15B8 and his head gasket blew. being the aspiring mechanics we are, we decided to tackle the job. everything went pretty smoothly (with a few parts being a bitch as per every repair), and we got it all back together no problem. after filling all the fluids that were drained (coolant, topping off oil) we tried starting it, and it was a no go. when you crank it, it tries over and over to turn and start, but thats about it, never actually starting it. one thing i noticed was i believe it was when the key was in the "start" position after trying to start it, it would give off this whining noise, and as i buried my head deep into his engine bay, it sounds like its coming from or right around his throttle body/intake mani/fuel rail.

so, anybody with any ideas of what could fix the problem?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Did you set the timing up right?

The noise you heard was all the sensors and fuel pump turning on .

Did you get the timing belt set up right? sounds like you may be off a tooth or something. I agree above, you were probably hearing Fuel pump building pressure in the rail and thats why it sounded like the Throttle body.

Not that it makes MUCH of a difference, but its a d15b with a d15b7 head.
I'm sure we put the crank in TDC; however, I do not know weather we have to turn the crank in retard side or advanced?

I know how to set it up in TDC from the crank side, but I'm not sure how to do it from the dizzy side. Would that have anything to do with it? Because when I put the dizzy on, it was just after I set the crank pulley to TDC and put the timing belt on.
Does it have to be one or two teeth over for it to start easier??

Also, Jamtwo noticed something about it last night.
He took a picture of my dizzy a while back before we took everything apart. After we did the head gasket and everything was back on, I used the Helms manual to put on the spark plug wires to the dizzy, but the order that they go on is totally different.
If the wires were in a different order then what they're supposed to be, will the engine still run fine?

We've also read that it would be the started or the main relay but I dont see how that could be affected from us doing the head gasket. Can anyone elaborate?

Thank you!

as for the plugs and wires it should be the same order as when the car was running before....if you have a picture of the dizzy put the wires back how they were and try that.......

whe the hell would anyone put a d15b7 head on a d15b. and no that shouldn't make a difference because it's for all practical purposes the same thing. You're dizzy maybe 180 out hommie. take it off, turn it the complete opposite way, and put it back in. I just helped my home boy replace the head gasket on his celica and he did that. put it back in 180 out and it just won't start. it'll crank and crank til the cows come home but it'll never start. also, double check that firing order, set it according to what the helms manual says to set it to. if those are off it still won't start. good luck.

haha I dont know that's kinda exactly the same thing that I said. I bought it from some douche a few months ago and he didn't really know much about that car.

I will definatelly check the dizzy to be 180. Some people have told me the tbelt could be off 180 but that just doesn't seem right to me.. how can THAT be true?

Thanks for the advice!
Like I said earlier, I set firing order up the way helms had it, but then when we looked at the pics of my dizzy from before, the firing order was different, and that's when it ran just fine

I had a D15B7 headswapped D15B8 just recently, the DIZZY being 180 would cause a no-start condition EXACTLY like you described *I did the same thing twice*

Also, be sure you are looking at the right page on your Helms, The firing order for 88-91 civics may be different than 92-95's and the Vtec ones may ALSO be different (Not sure, but I'd check it if I were you)
