Default 94 Accrod Oil Pressure Switch

I am trying to replace the oil pressure switch. I found the switch, but can not see it very well. It seems hard to pulling the connected wire from the switch. I am afraid I will break something if pulling hard. I just want to make sure the wire can be disconnected by simply pulling it out.

Thanks,

Yes it can.

Alot of the times on the older cars, the rubber boot tears, but the wire and connector are usually fine.

I tried very hard and could not disconnect the wire from the switch. Is there any tip or special tool to disconnect the wire?

Thanks,

Almost all of my electrical connectors on my 94 are a light green or grey color and you HAVE to push in on a tab to pull the connector off... once you have finally gotten it off and have replaced the switch, get some dielectric grease from the local auto parts store and apply to the metal connection points as well as where the switch slides into the connector. That will keep it from corroding again it will come right off if you have to replace it again.

Not a bad idea to do on all of your electrical connectors actually...

not this one, have you disconnected this connector or even looked at it? It's different than what you are thinking.

you are better off changing the oil pressure switch while changing your oil, a lot easier to access and i think you will need socket to remove the oil p switch not sure what size. O do not forget some honda bond on the threads of your new oil p switch.

Thanks for all the inputs. TouringHonda is right. The wire connector on Oil Pressure Switch is quite different with the connectors on other components. It is really very hard to pull out for this old car. I have tried different ways and still can not pull it out. Fortunately, the oil light turned off after I cleaned up the oil pan and Oil Screen (during changing the oil pan gasket). I will probably find a special tool to disconnect it if I need to do it late.

I am the sole owner for this car and I changed oil every 3000 miles. However, there was still a lot of very sticky oil on bottom of the oil pan. I believe that was the reason for setting off the oil warning light. Just drove the car for 20 miles after the clean up and I will pay attention to the light.

Thanks everyone for the inputs.

Sorry, how could I type the name wrong. I think I hope you can fix all the cars from Honda instead of just accrod.

that rubber boot around the switch gets cooked rock hard over time; just reach up there with a flat screwdriver and crack it loose from the pressure switch

try a a vice grip, now it might destroy the rubber piece that goes on the oil switch but taht should work.
