Default Stripped Bolts Need Suggestions

My buddy has a GSR block, but two of the tranny bolt holes are stripped. And he doesn't really know what to do now. I was thinking about retapping the holes, but wouldn't that call for bigger bolts?

Any suggestions?

So if he was to helicoil it, it would still be able to reuse the old factory tranny bolts?

Yup. Permacoil kits will work too.

I see so I guess either one of those methods is going to be the choice then. Just out of curiousity, heli-coil, timesert, etc do they last pretty long or is just temp fix? I was actually thikning about tapping it to use with bigger bolts and into SAE thread instead of metric.

If done properly, thread repair kits are a permanent solution.

Definently get the repair kit. Honda sells them, I install about 4-5 a month in my dealership.

Oh really, how much do they usually run for? Yeah I'm leaning towards getting myself one of those repair kits now.
