The black finish is the factory primer/ e-coat. The part still needs to be sealed w/ a primer sealer. Clean the part and inspect for defects/damage, then fix prior to preping.

Abrade the part w/ 500 on a DA. scuff the edges and underside.

Set up the part so you can paint both sides or cut in the underside first. Blow off all dust. Clean w/ wax/degreaser and a water based prep cleaner if you have any. Tack.

Spray sealer, base , then clear.

yup its the black finish primer (shiney) so i just have to clean the hood, spry primer, the paint, clear coat, then buff and wax it right?

Sounds like you don't know much at all about painting. Do some google searching and read as much as you can, you will learn alot about the basics. The part has to be sanded before you apply the sealer. Fresh paint needs to fully cure before you wax, typically 45-90 days is the recommended range before waxing is ok. Don't rush into it if you don't know what your doing, practicing on scrap panels would also help.

where did you get your hood from? Just wondering because i want a new hood because of a non-fixable dent. I looked online at one and I just want to see where you got yours from.
