Default Rear End Swaying

First, I'm sorry for posting this twice, it's also in the suspension sections, but this has been a major problem for me and I really need answers...

Alright, so this past fall I dropped my car 2.5", and then I brought it to a local Firestone for 4 new tires and an alignment... After they were through with it, not only did they tear my CV boot, but they also managed to break my right front axle, which they reluctantly replaced...

Well, prior to my axle breaking there didn't seem to be any problems with the cars handling, then when they took it back to replace the axle and boot, all of a sudden it started feeling kind of weird, which they refuse to fix...

On dry pavement the car seems to handle fine, but up here in North Dakota, on the snow and ice the back end fish-tails when I'm trying to drive straight, there's also a sever knocking coming from the back of the car when I hit even small bumps...

I looked at the trailing arm bushings and I'm going to replace those, but would they affect the toe of the rear tires enough to make it sway?

What do you think the problem is, like the swaying and the knocking?

Do you have a dragging brake in the rear? It could be locking on icy roads. Severe rotor runout could cause the rear wheels to knock when driving and lock on low traction surfaces.

Nope, just got my brakes done and tested... everything there seems fine...

It sways like both back tires are toed extremely out or in... I can see day-light through there trailing arm bushings, so I'm replacing them in a few weeks here...

Could that have anything to do with it?

I replaced my control arms this past fall too, because the car hit a curb sideways... dumb*ss pulling the e-brake around corners in the rain. But that was before I lowered it and aligned it...

I took my sway bar out of the rear temporarily, as well, could that have some effect on it while trying to go straight?

I think you have a winner. On a slick surface, a severely toed wheel can slide instead of turn.

I just got new tires put on my car, or new wheels with new tires. But... It just recently snowed here. I had to pick up my mother from work because her trans am is rwd and doesn't move on anything else then dry ground.

I was driving to her work and back, and about 10 mile trip. I spin out 2 times. I then proceeded to go to work myself, on the way home spun out another time. This is going @ 10mph. The rear tires are horrid in the snow.

Any type of small adjustment in the front steering made my entire rear end sway outward either ending up in a spin, or me Tokyo Drift style driving.

I really never experienced any of my integra's this horrible in the elements before. I honestly think after driving my car, maybe it's just your tires..... It's mine. Dry ground handles like a dream, snow comes. I rear end is uncontrollable. Felt like i was driving a 600whp mustang in 3 inches of snow and ice.

Yeah, some people have asked me if I had a rear wheel conversion 'cause it handles so sh*tty...

As far as where they set the rear toe at, I'm not sure, because it went in a total of three times trying to get them to set it straight after they didn't push my axle all the way in... and only on the first time they gave me a print off...

Do you think I'll need to replace the trailing arms as well, from the guy who hit the curb? It was enough to bend the lower control arms and sway bar, do you think the trailing arm got bent as well?

I know I need to do bushings... probably gonna go with poly or spherical, what do you think?

Bump.

Do you think I'll need to replace the whole trailing arm set-up or just the bushings?

And should I go with poly or spherical bushings?
