What are good RCA cables to use for stereo install?
I am looking at RCA cables for my setup. Is one cable better than another? I dont want cheap but I dont need the totl. Monster makes many different levels of cables. If I get cables that are longer than I need will that affect the sound quality. I am going to do this myself and I have very good stuff to install. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FYI I bought 16g monster speaker wire already (xln)
IMO RCA wires make doesn't really make much of a difference. If you go for a top quality brand, it would sound just the same as a mid-grade quality one. But there is a noticeably difference between a low quality and a mid grade one. I dont think it matters if its too long or short. How much power are you running through your system? What kind of subs do you got, and amp?
Ok my setup is Alpine head unit
JL Front Components ZR650
JL 12w3v2 Sub
JL 500/1 for sub
JL 300/4 for components

you have a making of an all around loud, and clear system. i got a 12w3v2 also thumps loud, but I'm using a jenson amp that put out lower than 220 watts, but i can make alarms go off..lols. I would use 14-12 gauge speaker wires for the sub and components, 4-0 gauge power and ground wire. When hooking up an a system make sure you find a good ground for the amp, that makes a difference IMO. if you hear a car revving sound that coming out of your system, then you should get a ground loop isolator to get rid of the sound. not sure if your gonna need this info, but doesnt hurt to know good luck on your system tho!

you'll be fine, as long as you dont go all out and put power all the way up for long periods of time, or if a wire doesn't heat up, and touch metal, but i don't think it will. you can always return it if you want, and get a bigger gauge wire.

For the RCA's, don't run them along with the power wire together. Those amps will be drawing some current, and having RCA's close to the power wire might give you a ground loop issue. Personally, I would go for mid level RCA's, wouldn't cheap out since you have pretty good equipment, but also going for the totl stuff, your not going to notice any difference.
