Anyone know of a place where i can find that smoke spray stuff for taillights? Like vht or anything similar. I went to a so called import shop and they had a tiny can that might if im lucky cover two lights but its 32 bucks. I know i will need more but cant stand spending 64 plus for this stuff. Heres the catch, i cant find it online, sorry purchase it online. I know someone has seen it some where for cheaper, right? I have checked home depot, michaels, arts and crafts place, walmart, 3 different auto parts stores, and all they ever have is red, green,or blue. So does anyone know or have seen it sold in person for cheaper or more quantity for the same price in person? Please help im tired of looking.... Thanks

next question. Anyone know where i can get the OEM looking red H's that dont cost an arm and a leg. Mostly what i can find are the really shiny lighter red ones which just look cheasy to me and cost around 20-30 bucks which is what im looking to pay for the darker red ones. My g/f tried getting me these for our anniversary and they sold her the cheap shiny ones. Also, what hobby store did you find your paint at, i tried michaels and some other hobby store and no luck. Plus, i can find a model hobby store worth two ***** in this area. If someone can touch on all these subjects that would be great and very helpful. Thanks

ok so i smoked the taillights, side markers, turn signals and they all turned out great. But when i did the headlights the same way they came out really foggy and blotchy. I did the same procedures and even tried a slight clear coat spray which made it worse. So i dont know how the hell to make them look even and shinier. I definately wont do any sanding to any degree b/c that will scruff the surface of the headlight cover. Any thoughts? Any help?

I did read up on it alot. But sanding snything on the headlights makes me very skeptical about any scuffs on the housing cover
i lightly scuffed the tail lights on my truck and mixed a little black in with some clear, hit the tail lights with plastic cleaner, then adhesion promoter and sprayed light coats on them till i got what i wanted. just dont spray more than 3 coats or so. will get to thick, clear might pop

so it seems the spray then adding a clear wont work. So its looking like i have to get a cheap air brush or sprayer and a compressor? cause how else would you mix black and clear
did u really expect the paint to stick to smooth glass headlights? heh
to do the headlights you need to take the glass lense off, tape off the reflective part of the light you are going to keep (the part behind the bulb) then paint the rest of the chrome inside black, put the lense back on and they are done.
it will look like this...

IF you have plastic headlights, dont be afaid to scuff them with a grey scotch pad and retry. ive wet sanded and buffed out CRAZY scratches from headlights with a wool pad and some plastic-x.

i make my own light smoke as i call it, I use the weak black toner off my PPG mixing bank and mix it like a candy in a base coat clear. so in the end i have candy base coat black , i add as many coats as i need to acheev the right shade then clear coat and the results are amazeing. weak black is the way to go.
