Weird Electrical Problems
Hi,
I think I have a short or a grounding problem somewhere. Two weeks back I drove from Raleigh to Columbus in the rains with no Fender linings and the water reached all the way to the floor of the car and the driver side mats were soaked. Since then I've been having weird electrical problems.
1. The Driver door indicator stays on even when the door is closed. However, when I put the seatbelt in it shows the door closed. For a week that worked fine - every time I left the car I would put on the seatbelt so the courtesy light and the door lamp would stay off. This hack stopped working a few days back so I had to the bulb in the door in order to stop the car from discharging. Also, the seatbelt indicator never goes on anymore and the beeper keeps beeping even when the key is removed (until I put the seatbelt)
2. The Parking Brake indicator remains on even when the parking break is disengaged. However, every time I press the clutch it goes off and then back on when I leave the clutch. (When the car is dry on a hot day, this does not happen)
I was looking at the circuit diagram and the Beeper, door indicator and seatbelt indicator all come in from the same feed and have the same fuse. I'm very new to this but can figure out how to check ground/short if I have instructions. I would really appreciate if anyone can give me instructions on what I should look for and how I should check.
I don't want to take it to a mechanic and have them charge me by the hour so I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I was actually thinking of using a hair dryer to dry up the moisture Wonder why I never thought of just leaving the heater on - the cold in Columbus must be freezing up any gray cells I have left.
I will give that a try right now.
Thanks.
