what kind of ecu would i have to buy for this? help!

you can find p28 ecu's all over for the ball park price of $100 (more or less depends where and who you happen to sang one from). And honestly installing the new ecu is pretty easy if you can plug stuff in then you can install and ecu no sweat just remove the kick panel (if you have on) and pull back the carpet on the passenger side and unbolt it from the side.

If you have no clue what you're doing, it takes 10 minutes max. 2 minutes or less the second time you do it.
if you really want someone to do it for you, find someone that knows how to turn a wrench and hand them a beer.
if you can't handle this, please leave cars alone.

a hayes manuel will take you through it step by step. it takes 15 min. a shop will charge you at least a half hour (45-65$). remove the lower passenger kick panel, unbolt the ecu, unplug it, install in reverse order. make sure that the ecu that you buy is an obd1 and not and obd2 ecu.

when i got my ECU in the mail after a friend did my y8 swap into my car, He wasnt available so i called him and he bassically told me what everyone here is telling you. Dont worry, everyone was in the same boat you are when they got their first car.
I tried it myself and within 10 minutes i had them switched and i thought to myself, Wtf was i sweatin about.

if you were in northeast tennessee, i would do it for $20. but that would probably be ripping you a new *******. there are 4 bolts and 3 plugs. surely to GOD you can do this yourself.

the only thing to remember is disconnect your battery before messing with your ecu. and the plugs are all different sizes so you really cant mess up.
